    Lot of 6 Vintage Postcards
    Bibliotheque Nationale
    Medieval Religious Manuscripts (printed 1950s)
This listing is for a set of 6 vintage unposted postcards featuring very beautiful illustrations from a variety of medieval manuscripts housed at the Bibliotheque Nationale of France. In clockwise order of the post cards as shown in the photos, they represent:
6455: Heures de Louis de Savoie. The Tree of Jesse.
6461: Breviaire de Salisbury. Saint James and Josias before Herod.
6458: Heures de Louis de Savoie. Jewish Women Acclaiming David.
6466: Heures de Rohan. The Purification.
6465: Heures de Rohan. The Virgin Over the Body of Her Son.
6374. Manuscrit persan du XVI siecle. Le "jardin des roses."
These cards are really lovely, with amazing detail and a gold-like (gilt) finish that makes them shimmer in the light. They are in fairly good condition, with just a bit of wear around the corners or edges in a couple of spots (see closeup photos of each card). There are no tears or wrinkles, and no tape. The cards measure about 5-1/8 inches by 4-1/8 inches (except card 6466, which is only 3.75 inches wide).
All six cards are marked "Bibliotheque Nationale." There is an imprint mark in the center of the back: "Les Editions Nomis, Paris. Printed in France. Albert A. Lampl Sole Distributor for U.S.A. Philadelphia 43, Pa."
